Printed circuit board techniques

pcb techniques
Why making your own printed circuit board is a useful skill when it comes to testing prototypes.

Here I show what I do to make my experimental circuit boards, the techniques, and the materials that can be used.

Experimental circuits should be made quickly and inexpensively. For good quality the way to go is to design the circuit with a software such as Eagle or KiCad and hand over to a manufacturer the process. However this takes time: you have to prepare the files, check them, send them to the manufacturing facility and place the order, and wait for the boards to be arrive. Not exactly a fast route when it comes in experimenting an idea that could even be wrong.

Making circuit boards themselves is a useful skill for this stage of experimentation.

The techniques I'm gonna show provide by no mean high quality PCBs, in particular with regard to the aesthetic, but they are functional and robust so unlike other techniques a circuit made using this technique can widthstand years and could become a definitive application, even though it is a one off piece.
